Garbage: Separate blue recycling and garbage. Garbage must be gathered in clear bags. There is a brown box close to the entrance of the property when you want to get garbage out of the house. Garbage day is Monday, transfer bags to the road.

Septic system: like most country properties, we use a septic system. Please be gentle with it. No oil, grease, coffee grinds, feminine products etc. The drains can easily get clogged and back up.

Fireplace: there is wood in the shed out back.

Basement fireplace is tricky to get going. The whole basement will smoke out if you just try to light it conventionally. Warm the chimney first by completely filling the stove with newspaper and burning it all off. Also, if you crack the window open in the bedroom, it relieves the pressure that draws the smoke downwards. Once the chimney is warm, if you build the fire, you should have no problem. Maybe leave the window open for a few more minutes to help the smoke rise up the chimney.


Hot tub: keep the top on when not in use. The balancing of it should be fine while you are visiting, if you notice anything odd just let us know and Chris will talk you through it.
